If you came here looking for reviews

Understandable, and especially if you have not seen a complementary practitioner before. But there are no patient testimonials on this site, and the reason is worth knowing because it tells you something about how this field is regulated.

The restriction

Section 133 of the National Law prohibits registered health services from using testimonials about clinical care in advertising. Where a practitioner is AHPRA-registered — as acupuncturists and Chinese herbal medicine practitioners are — that applies to their advertising, including a clinic website.

Consent is irrelevant. So is accuracy. The format itself is what is restricted.

Use this as a test

Here is something practical you can do with the information. When you are comparing clinics, look at how they handle this rule.

A page full of patient quotes claiming conditions were resolved, on a site advertising registered health services, tells you either that nobody there is registered or that they are not complying with the conditions of their registration. Either way it is a useful signal, and one most people have no idea how to read.

How to judge a clinic without testimonials

Ask whether the practitioner is registered, and with which board. Look them up on the AHPRA public register — it takes a minute and it is free.

Then ask three questions: what will you not be able to help with, how will we know if this is not working, and when would you tell me to stop. Confident, specific answers to those are worth more than a page of quotes. Vague answers are worth knowing about too.

What we can publish, and want to hear

Feedback about the service: the booking, the waiting, the clarity of pricing, whether you were treated with respect. None of that is a clinical claim, all of it is fair comment, and it is the part we can actually fix.

Tell us directly, or leave it on a public platform. We do not offer discounts for reviews and we do not ask for critical ones to be taken down.
